2017年ローレンス・オリヴィエ賞(Olivier Awards)受賞者発表!

4月9日、ロンドンのロイヤル・アルバート・ホールにて、2017年ローレンス・オリヴィエ賞授賞式が開催された。

今年のオリヴィエ賞で注目を浴びていたのは、J・K・ローリングの『ハリー・ポッター』シリーズをベースに作られた2部式の芝居『Harry Potter and the Cursed Child』(ハリー・ポッターと呪いの子)。

この新作は史上最高11ノミネーションを得たことで注目を浴びていたが、9日の授賞式では新作プレイ作品賞、プレイ主演男優賞(ジェイミー・パーカー)、プレイ助演女優賞(ノーマ・ドゥメズウェニ)、同助演男優賞(アンソニー・ボイル)、最優秀演出家賞(ジョン・ティファニー)を含む9部門の受賞となり、これまでミュージカル『マチルダ』(Matilda)と『夜中に犬に起こった奇妙な事件』(The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time)が保持していた最多受賞記録を塗り替える結果となった。

『ハリー・ポッターと呪いの子』で演出家賞を受賞したティファニーは、『ガラスの動物園』(The Glass Menagerie)の演出でも候補に上がっていたが、『ハリー・ポッター』で受賞となった。

ミュージカル部門では、現在ブロードウェイでプレビュー中の『グラウンドホッグ・デイ』(Groundhog Day)が8ノミネーションを受けていたところ、新作ミュージカル作品賞とミュージカル主演男優賞(アンディ・カール)の2つの賞を受賞した。

また、『ドリームガールズ』(Dreamgirls)でエフィ・ホワイト役を演じているアンバー・ライリーがミュージカル主演女優賞を受賞した。
